Monday, Mar 24

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Toddler Time: 10-11am. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs, and other activities. This story time is designed for Toddlers, but all are welcome!

    • Voices of Young Women: 3-4pm. This is a performance workshop presented by the Kentucky Shakespeare Theatre. The strong young women of several Shakespearen plays will be presented along with discussion between scenes. Teen Audience (6-12th grade). Registration is required.

    • Sensory Friendly Storytime: 4-4:45pm. Sensory Friendly Storytime is a special storytime for children who may have felt left out or nervous to go to other storytimes.

    • Tails and Tales - Read to Pickles the Therapy Dog: 4pm - Galena Branch. Come read to therapy dog, Pickles! She is a 4 year old lab who loves to have stories read to her! Anyone can come read to her! Each person who signs up will have a 10 minute time slot to read one on one for up to 6 readers each visit.

    • Thingamajig: Welcome to the Library of Things: 6-7pm. Join us for an all ages event where you can explore our Library of Things collection, try out materials, and check out items to take home with you! No registration is required. 

    • Beginner Mat Yoga with the YMCA: 6:30-7:30pm. New to yoga? Join us for a free beginner yoga class at The Floyd County Library! Learn about yoga basics, terminology, and postures. Practice yoga at your own level in a safe and supportive environment with guidance from a registered yoga teacher from the YMCA. Modifications will be offered as you practice each pose.  Yoga mats will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own, or any optional props, straps, and sweater in case you get cold. Registration is required.

  • Form Not Function, Quilt Art Biennial: 10am-7pm, The Cultural Arts Center (201 E. Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150). The Cultural Arts Center is pleased to present the returning Form, Not Function: Quilt Art Biennial exhibition, featuring 20 quilts selected by guest jurors Michelle Amos, Terry Jarrard-Dimond, and Kevin Womack. This exhibition will be on display from January 16th, 2025 through April 12th, 2025. Admission is free for all ages. 

  • Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad: 10am-7pm, The Cultural Arts Center (201 E. Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150). Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad draws the national phenomenon of the Underground Railroad into sharp focus by revealing the contributions of ordinary people, both free and enslaved, whose courageous acts on both sides of the Ohio River helped overthrow the institution of slavery. For two and a half centuries, slavery was a blight on our nation’s psyche. Through it all, more and more ordinary people acted in the face of human tragedy—and changed America forever.

Tuesday, Mar 25

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Babies and Books: 10am-10:30am. Join us on Tuesday mornings as we sing, read board books, and have fun learning early literacy! Registration not required.

    • It’s a Small World Storytime: 11am-12pm. You're invited to join us each week as we learn about themes like kindness, empathy, and family through different stories, songs, and crafts from around the world. This storytime is designed with kids ages 3-6 in mind, but all kids and families are welcome. Join us every Tuesday at 11am to discover if it really is a small world after all. Registration not required.

    • Lunch and Learn: Public Art in Southern Indiana: 12-1pm. The Cultural Arts Center. Join guest speaker Daniel Boone at our Lunch & Learn program on Tuesday, March 25th as he takes us on a visual tour of public art in southern Indiana, using photographs he has taken and back stories gathered from his "Fresh Art" podcast. After describing what public art is, our journey will begin in Jeffersonville and then go through Clarksville, New Albany, and Mount St. Francis. We'll encounter giant murals, exotic statues, kinetic sculptures, and mighty mosaics. You're sure to see some art that you never knew existed and may want to check out for yourself. Thumbnails of the art along with each of their locations will be provided in case you would like to go on a public art safari of your own. Registration is requested.

    • Pajama Time Stories: 6pm-6:45pm. Join us for a Pajama Party every Tuesday evening at the New Albany Library! Come in your pajamas and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal if you like. Registration not required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Mother Goose Time: 10:30-11am. A fast-paced and interactive program for children ages 0-2 and their caregivers. Adult participation and interaction ensure the success of this program. Siblings may bring a doll or stuffed animal to bounce. Arrive early to get a spot.

  • Library Events - Harrison County

    • Move and Groove Storytime: 10:30am. Corydon Branch. Join Ms. Eden for stories, music, and a craft. PK and up.

  • ½ Priced Bottle Tuesdays: 3-10pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Every Tuesday ½ priced bottles of wine in house. Bring a friend (or two!) and come enjoy the Wine Shop.

  • Pizza & Chill at Wine Shop: 5-9pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Unwind with us every Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:00pm for our Pizza & Chill Special! Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious flatbread pizza for just $20 . Plus, take advantage of our 1/2 off bottles of wine in-house to keep the good vibes flowing.

  • Kids Eat Free Tuesday: 4-10pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Every Tuesday, for every adult meal purchased, one child under the age of 12 can order a meal from the kid’s menu for free.

Wednesday, Mar 26

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Wiggle Wednesday Storytime: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. to wiggle our wiggles out, read stories and sing songs! Registration not required.

    • Kid's Club: 4:30-5:30pm. Come hang out and enjoy a different activity each week. Activities will range from play doh to crafts to LEGOs! For Kids ages 6-11 years old. No registration required.

    • Hip-Hop Shakespeare: 5:30-6:30pm. The great poets of our time pair up with the greatest writer of all time during a fun Hip-Hop Shakespeare workshop. Children can explore Shakespeare's sonnets and verse alongside contemporary music to discover rhythm, poetry, and language. For grades 3-12. Registration is required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Preschool Prep: 10:30-11am. Stories, songs, rhymes, movement activities and crafts which encourage early literacy and kindergarten readiness skills. Ages 2-5 with a caregiver. Siblings are welcome. Space and materials are limited, so arrive early to get a spot. 

    • An Evening with Bestselling Author Stephanie Dray: 6-7pm. Jeffersonville Township Public will host a presentation by New York Times, USA Today, and Wallstreet Journal best-selling author Stephanie Dray.

  • Library Events - Harrison County

    • Nature Explorers: Wildflowers at Doolittle Trail: 2pm, Corydon Branch. Look for the first wildflowers of spring. Meet by the front doors of the library and we will walk the trail together. School-age and families welcome. Please register or sign up for alerts by texting @HCPLNC to 81010, in case of cancellation.

  • Birding Basics: 2-4pm, Falls of the Ohio State Park. Learn about birdwatching basics from Tom & Colleen Becker, long-time birders. They will teach you how to identify birds by sight and by sound, what equipment you need and apps that will help with identification. Find out about year-round birds and those that only migrate through or visit for only one season. Your $2 program fee covered by a Falls of the Ohio Foundation grant. Exhibit gallery access is not included.

  • Recbar 812 Bingo: 7pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Free to play. Free to win! Come join us every Wednesday for Bar Bingo. Prizes for every round. One final coverall round every week for a rolling $50 jackpot. If no one wins, the $50 moves on to the next week! $2 off all adult slushies! This is a 21+ event to participate.

Thursday, Mar 27

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Music and Movement: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Thursdays to help your child learn some basic rhythms that will help with early literacy before they begin Kindergarten. Ms. Ashley will use bells, rhythm sticks, scarves and more for these exercises! Registration not required.

    • Laser Engraving 101: 5-6:30pm. Galena Branch. Did you know that you can use our laser engraver to personalize gifts, create branded items, and design unique products? Join us for our Laser Engraving 101 class. Learn how to use the Epilog Laser and take home a mini project! Must be 16 years of age or older. Registration is required.

    • Teen Scene: 6-7:30pm. Hang out with us every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Teen Scene! Take a break in the middle of the week with a new activity, game, craft, or anything else we dream up, plus snacks! All teens are welcome (11-18 years old). Registration not required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Disasters of Southern Indiana: 6:30-7:30pm. Join us on this date for a very interesting and insightful lecture by Retired Architect Steve Wiser! He also wears the titles/hats of Historian and Author! 

  • Silent Book Club: 6-8pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Having a “silent” book club allows everyone flexibility to come and go as they please each week while getting to see both new and familiar faces. This means everyone gets to bring their current read and read at their own pace. We will be pouring some fun wines and sharing some yummy snacks! Feel free to bring whatever you need to be comfortable!

  • Single Day Camp - Koality Time: 8:30am-5pm, Louisville Zoo. Humans like hanging out with friends and family, but do animals? Some animals are social and like spending time with others, while some are solitary and prefer their alone time. In this camp, we will explore the complex relationships in the animal kingdom not only within individual species, but interactions with other species as well! Some species are friends and others are foes, but how do they know who to trust and who is trying to turn them into lunch? Designed for grades K-3. Registration required.

    • Outdoor Book Sale: 9am-1pm.The Friends of the Library's outdoor book sales are back! Find incredible deals and a great selection of books. Stop by The Floyd County Library’s main parking lot on Saturday, March 29th from 9 AM – 1 PM. Regular prices are $1 for hardback books, 50 cents for paperback books, and 25 cents for children’s books, unless otherwise marked. New books will be brought out throughout the sale. All proceeds from the book sale are used to support the library. Only cash or checks are accepted.

  • Afternoon Cruise: 12pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Take it slow under the Southern sun with a delightful cruise along the Ohio River in Louisville. Your whole crew will enjoy the experience. Join us for a fun, informal excursion with free Adventure Passports for the kids. You can opt to enjoy a pre-selected boxed lunch on our Picnic Lunch or just sit back and enjoy the ride!   • Seeking Silurian Fossils: 1-2pm, Falls of the Ohio State Park. Where are Silurian fossils found? Why are they harder to find than Ordovician fossils? What was life like in the Silurian Period in our area? The naturalist and park paleontologist, Alan Goldstein, will show different types of fossils and where to look for them. Silurian fossil will be given to participants. $2 program fee covered by a grant from the Falls of the Ohio Foundation. Meets in the rotunda.

  • Southern Indiana Roller Derby Training Camp: 10am-1pm, 341 S Capitol Ave, Corydon, IN 47112. Have you ever wanted to learn how to skate and play roller derby? Now is your chance! Southern Indiana Roller Derby's 2025 Training Camp kicks off Sunday, February 23 and runs every Sunday through April 27 at the Harrison County Fairgrounds from 10 AM to 1 PM.
