    • Jim Snidero Jazz Concert: 5-6:30pm, The Cultural Arts Center. Join us at the Cultural Arts Center for a concert by the Jim Snidero Jazz Trio, featuring Jim Snidero on alto sax, Peter Washington on bass, and Jason Tiemann on drums. To mark the 40th anniversary of his debut recording as a bandleader in 1984, saxophonist Jim Snidero set out to create something special with his 28th album—and his second trio project to date. Fresh off the success of For All We Know (Savant), particularly the standout track “Parker's Mood”, Snidero felt the time was right to pay tribute to Charlie Parker, an artist he regards as “the king of the hill.” Ranked among the top five alto saxophonists in Down Beat’s 2024 Critics Poll, Snidero is more than qualified to honor one of the bebop pioneers with his new release Bird Feathers (Savant). For his 2025 Midwest tour, Snidero will feature two of the best jazz musicians on the current New York scene. Peter Washington is the most recorded bassist of his generation, and undoubtedly one of the best in jazz history. Originally from Louisville, Jason Tiemann has quietly entered the top tier of NY drummers, working with some of today's best and brightest jazz musicians. Reservations are suggested due to limited seating. All ages are welcome.

  • Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad: 10am-7pm, The Cultural Arts Center (201 E. Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150). Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage: Men and Women of the Underground Railroad draws the national phenomenon of the Underground Railroad into sharp focus by revealing the contributions of ordinary people, both free and enslaved, whose courageous acts on both sides of the Ohio River helped overthrow the institution of slavery. For two and a half centuries, slavery was a blight on our nation’s psyche. Through it all, more and more ordinary people acted in the face of human tragedy—and changed America forever.
