Monday, Apr 28

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Toddler Time: 10-11am. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs, and other activities. This story time is designed for Toddlers, but all are welcome!

    • Tails and Tales: Read to Pickles the Therapy Dog: 4-5pm. Galena Branch. Come read to therapy dog, Pickles! She is a 4 year old lab who loves to have stories read to her! Anyone can come read to her! Each person who signs up will have a 10 minute time slot to read one on one for up to 6 readers each visit. Registration required.

    • Sensory Friendly Story time: 4-4:45pm. Sensory Friendly Storytime is a special storytime for children who may have felt left out or nervous to go to other storytimes.

  • IU Southeast Rock Ensemble: 7:30pm. Ogle Center. 4201 Grant Line Rd, New Albany. The IU Southeast Rock Ensemble is primarily composed of music and interdisciplinary program majors but is open to all university students. The ensemble’s repertoire and rehearsal methods are student-led and drawn from popular music forms not typically seen in the university setting, such as rock, hip hop, and electronic music. Students also design and perform lighting and sound reinforcement. FREE event.

  • Music Bingo Mondays: 6:30-8:30pm. Derby City Pizza New Albany. Prizes: $5 for single, $5 for double bingo, $10 for coverall.

Tuesday, Apr 29

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Babies and Books: 10am-10:30am. Join us on Tuesday mornings as we sing, read board books, and have fun learning early literacy! Registration not required.

    • It’s a Small World Storytime: 11am-12pm. You're invited to join us each week as we learn about themes like kindness, empathy, and family through different stories, songs, and crafts from around the world. This storytime is designed with kids ages 3-6 in mind, but all kids and families are welcome. Join us every Tuesday at 11am to discover if it really is a small world after all. Registration not required.

    • Lunch & Learn, the Ohio - A River of Inspiration: 12-1pm. The Cultural Arts Center. Along with a presentation of her photography, Susan Griffin Ward will tell a few river tales, talk about the value of the Ohio River, some of its tributaries, and why it is important to protect and restore these incredible natural resources. Free event, registration is required.

    • Pajama Time Stories: 6pm-6:45pm. Join us for a Pajama Party every Tuesday evening at the New Albany Library! Come in your pajamas and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal if you like. Registration not required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Mother Goose Time: 10:30-11:15am. A fast-paced and interactive program for children ages 0-2 and their caregivers. Adult participation and interaction ensure the success of this program. Siblings may bring a doll or stuffed animal to bounce. Arrive early to get a spot.

  • 502sDay: Gates open 11:30am. Churchill Downs. 502’sDay returns for its third year, shining the spotlight on what truly makes this city special – the community. This year, we pay tribute to Louisville’s own Muhammad Ali, whose unwavering pride and profound love for Louisville mirror our community's spirit. Join us in honoring his legendary impact and the vibrant energy that pulses through our city. $5 General Admission.

  • ½ Priced Bottle Tuesdays: 3-10pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Every Tuesday ½ priced bottles of wine in house. Bring a friend (or two!) and come enjoy the Wine Shop.

  • Pizza & Chill at Wine Shop: 5-9pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Unwind with us every Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:00pm for our Pizza & Chill Special! Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious flatbread pizza for just $20 . Plus, take advantage of our 1/2 off bottles of wine in-house to keep the good vibes flowing.

  • Kids Eat Free Tuesday: 4-10pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Every Tuesday, for every adult meal purchased, one child under the age of 12 can order a meal from the kid’s menu for free.

  • Music Bingo: 7pm, Dog Haus Biergarten New Albany. Join us every Tuesday for MUSIC BINGO!

Wednesday, Apr 30

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Wiggle Wednesday Storytime: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. to wiggle our wiggles out, read stories and sing songs! Registration not required.

    • Kid's Club - Legos: 4:30-5:30pm. Come hang out each Wednesday 4:30pm to 5:30pm and enjoy a different activity each week. Activities will range from play doh to crafts to LEGOs! For Kids ages 6-11 years old. No registration required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Preschool Prep: 10:30-11:15am. Stories, songs, rhymes, movement activities and crafts which encourage early literacy and kindergarten readiness skills. Ages 2-5 with a caregiver. Siblings are welcome. Space and materials are limited, so arrive early to get a spot. 

    • Clarksville Wednesday Readers’ Book Club: 1-2pm. The Clarksville group meets in-person the last Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.  The group started out as an Oprah Book Club group and has continued for the past 25 years with lively discussions and thoughtful reading. The club discusses a wide variety of books and authors both fiction and non-fiction. This month we will be reading The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean. 

  • Winsday: Gates open 11:30am. Churchill Downs. New for 2025 Winsday debuts as a day to shine the spotlight on Louisville’s robust nonprofit community. Presented by Resolute Racing and in partnership with the Community Foundation of Louisville, local nonprofit organizations will be invited to fundraise and highlight the work they do to make Louisville a more vibrant place to live, work and play. By purchasing Winsday tickets through a registered nonprofit, guests will directly contribute to these vital agencies, with a portion of each ticket sale benefiting their incredible work. Be a part of something bigger, support the community, and enjoy a day at the races! Tickets required.

  • Great Steamboat Race: 4:30-7:30pm. Wharf at the Waterfront. As one of the original and longest standing traditions of the Kentucky Derby Festival, the Great Steamboat Race has been taking place on the Ohio River since 1963. Ask any local, this event has become a Louisville tradition in the leadup to Derby weekend!

  • Recbar 812 Bingo: 7pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Free to play. Free to win! Come join us every Wednesday for Bar Bingo. Prizes for every round. One final coverall round every week for a rolling $50 jackpot. If no one wins, the $50 moves on to the next week! $2 off all adult slushies! This is a 21+ event to participate.

  • Last Call Trivia: 7pm, Dog Haus Biergarten New Albany. Join us every Wednesday for Last Call Trivia! Games start at 7pm. First Place gets a $30 Dog Haus Gift Card, Second Place gets a $20 Dog Haus Gift Card, and Third Place takes home a $10 Dog Haus Gift Card.

  • Trivia Wednesdays at OLPH: 7-9pm. Our Lady of Perpetual Hops. Join us for an evening of brain-teasing fun, friendly competition, and great prizes! Whether you're a trivia master or just looking for a good time, this is your chance to put your knowledge to the test.

Thursday, May 1

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Music and Movement: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Thursdays to help your child learn some basic rhythms that will help with early literacy before they begin Kindergarten. Ms. Ashley will use bells, rhythm sticks, scarves and more for these exercises! Registration not required.

    • Cricut 101: 5:30-6:30pm. Come into Galena and learn how to use the basics of Cricut! We will be covering the capabilities of Cricut, how to design a Cricut project, and use the Cricut machine and tools! Registration required.

    • Teen Scene: 6-7:30pm. Hang out with us every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Teen Scene! Take a break in the middle of the week with a new activity, game, craft, or anything else we dream up, plus snacks! All teens are welcome (11-18 years old). Registration not required.

  • Thurby: Gates open at 10:30am. Churchill Downs. Presented by Old Forester and in partnership with Frazier History Museum, the venue transforms into a vibrant display of the state's rich heritage. Delve into Kentucky's storied past and lively present with engaging photo ops and experiences that capture the essence of our rich culture. A must-attend for history buffs, music lovers, and racing enthusiasts alike, this event encapsulates Kentucky's spirited music, deep-rooted traditions, and vibrant atmosphere. Tickets required.

  • Fantasy Weekend: 10am-7pm. Southern Indiana Renaissance Faire. Swifty Farms, 351 US-31, Seymour, IN. Unleash your imagination and embark on an enchanted adventure at the Southern Indiana Renaissance Faire during Fantasy Weekend, happening on May 3–4, 2025! Experience a world of wonder, mythical creatures, and magical entertainment for the entire family. Tickets required.

  • Silent Book Club: 6-8pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Having a “silent” book club allows everyone flexibility to come and go as they please each week while getting to see both new and familiar faces. This means everyone gets to bring their current read and read at their own pace. We will be pouring some fun wines and sharing some yummy snacks! Feel free to bring whatever you need to be comfortable!

  • Feud Thursdays: 7pm, Dog Haus Biergarten New Albany. Join us every Thursday at 7:00pm for Last Call Feud Night! First Place gets a $30 Dog Haus Gift Card, Second Place gets a $20 Dog Haus Gift Card, and Third Place takes home a $10 Dog Haus Gift Card.

  • Trivia Thursdays: 7pm. Floyd County Brewing Company. Every Thursday join your friends for dinner, drinks and pub trivia. 1st and 2nd place win gift cards.

Friday, May 2

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Tails and Tales - Read to Pickles the Therapy Dog: 10-11am.  Come read to therapy dog, Pickles! She is a 3 year old lab who loves to have stories read to her! This program is intended to help reluctant readers read. Anyone can come read to her. Registration required.

    • First Friday Concert: Paulette Johnson and Band: 12-12:45pm. A versatile singer and producer known for blending Jazz, R&B, Soul, Blues, Pop, and Neo-Soul with her unique, sultry, soulful sound. All ages are welcome. The First Friday Concert series is sponsored by the Community Music Alliance. Registration required.

  • Library Events - Harrison County

    • Storytime

      • 10am, Palmyra Branch. Join Ms. Nikki or Ms. Shawnda for stories, puppets, songs, and more. Ages 0 - 6 and families

      • 11am, Elizabeth Branch. Join Ms. Sara for a story, craft, movement, and fun. Ages 0 - 6 and families.

    • Lego Club: 2pm, Corydon Branch

  • Kentucky Oaks: Gates open at 9am. Churchill Downs. The Longines Kentucky Oaks, now celebrating its 151st running, is America’s premier race for 3-year-old fillies. Held each year the day before the Kentucky Derby, the Oaks offers a $1.5 million purse and awards the winner the iconic 'Lilies for the Fillies' garland. As one of the longest-running sporting events in U.S. history, the Oaks is steeped in tradition and meaning. Oaks Day is also a celebration of breast cancer awareness, with fans embracing the 'Pink Out' tradition by wearing shades of pink to honor this meaningful cause. Tickets required.

  • Oaks Watch Party: 2-7pm. The Depot at NoCo. Enjoy the Kentucky Oaks experience without the hassle of traffic backups, long-distance parking and expensive tickets. We're adding a large LED screen to our outdoor stage and broadcasting the races live. We'll also have food trucks on-site and a full bar with plenty of beer, wine and cocktails for purchase. This event is for 21+ only, ID required at entry. $30 general admission required.

  • First Fridays New Albany: 5-8pm. On the first Friday of each month, bars, restaurants, galleries and retail businesses celebrate the arts across New Albany. Bars, galleries, & shops open their doors with the goal of connecting our community through the arts.

  • Friday Night Karaoke at Forest Music Hall: 8-11:45pm, The Enchanted Forest & Music Hall. Every Friday Forest Music Hall turns into the Ultimate Karaoke Bar. 21+.

  • Anchors Away Fridays: 8-10pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Leave your stress behind on the shore! Grab a cocktail, sit back and relax to a DJ spinning tunes with a Yacht Rock theme. With a chill 1980’s vibe, this cruise and onboard entertainment is the perfect place to unwind! Anchors Away Fridays cruises are two hours. Tickets required.

Saturday, May 3

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Painting for Kids: 11am-12pm. Children from Kindergarten through fourth grade are invited to join artist Jen Mitchell for Art Class@Your Library from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. in the Youth Services Activity Room of Jeffersonville Township Public Library Jeffersonville location. Registration required.

    • Movie Sing Along Club - Wicked: 1-4pm. From 1p.m.- 4 p.m. families and fans are invited to join Jeff Library for our first-ever movie sing-along club meeting. This month, we will feature the hit movie Wicked!

  • Kentucky Derby: Gates open 9am. Churchill Downs. No other entertainment event is as alluring, captivating, and thrilling as the Kentucky Derby. Call it what you will—the Run for the Roses®, the Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports®, or America's Race. This year marks the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby, presented by Woodford Reserve, the first leg of the Triple Crown. More than just a horse race, it’s a tradition steeped in history and held in the heart of America. It’s a way of life, representing the hopes and dreams of millions across the globe. Tickets required.

  • New Albany Summer Farmer’s Market: 8am-12pm. 210 E Market St. New Albany. Summer Session of the New Albany Local Farmers Market - Wines, Slushies, baked goods, fresh veggies, flowers, meats, food truck, etc.

  • Afternoon Cruise: 12-2pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Take it slow under the Southern sun with a delightful cruise along the Ohio River in Louisville. Your whole crew will enjoy the experience. Join us for a fun, informal excursion with free Adventure Passports for the kids. You can opt to enjoy a pre-selected boxed lunch on our Picnic Lunch or just sit back and enjoy the ride! Tickets required.

  • Junior Paleontologist Program: 1-2pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. We’ve developed a Junior Paleontologist program, similar to what some national parks offer but focusing on our area. This family program is geared for ages 6 – 14. The activity booklet is still in “test” form. Join park paleontologist Alan Goldstein as we have some fun learning about fossils. Activity fee covered by the Falls of the Ohio Foundation. Meets in the classroom, limited to 30, no reservations taken.

  • Moonlight Cruise: 8-10pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. There are few things as beautiful as Louisville in the moonlight aboard the Mary M. Miller. Enjoy yourself out on the river with a gentle breeze and a delicious cocktail and leave your troubles behind! Tickets required.

Sunday, May 4

  • Sunday Funday Cruise: 1-3pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Turn your Sunday into #SundayFunDay aboard the historic Belle of Louisville! Cruise away the afternoon as you take in the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Whether you choose to enjoy a delicious buffet meal option or just sit back and feel the breeze on our outdoor decks, wrap up your weekend your way.

  • Petrified Wood: 3-4pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. Trees have been around since the Devonian Period, over 380 million years. These fossils are found in different geological periods across the world. Dale Brown will bring in examples of petrified wood (many are very beautiful) as well as some fossil leaves. He will talk about the history of trees with fossils. Free program meets in the rotunda. Postponed from April due to flooding.

  • Singin’ In the Rain: 6pm, Derby Dinner Playhouse. Hollywood of the 1920’s is the setting for this light-hearted and romantic MGM classic filled with show-stopping dance numbers and memorable music. Grab your umbrella, it will rain on stage! Tickets Required.

  • Free Star Wars Day Concert: 7-8:30pm. Edwardsville United Methodist Church, 4830 IN-62, Georgetown, IN. Community Music Alliance Orchestra performs music from Star Wars, Interstellar, Apollo 13, E.T. – The Extraterres.
